The Younger Brigade
13 Jan 10
Well this year's installment of the Pokerstars Carribean Adventure has been run and won with 19 year old Harrison Gimbel taking the crown. Well, they really keep getting younger and younger these winners, with Harrison still in his teens and taking home $2 million dollars to play with.
This follows the footsteps of Joe Cada who managed to bank $8 million dollars at the World Series of Poker and he was only 21, just old enough to play. So will the world start seeing 18 year old millionaires walking around after cashing at their local big game like the PCA or the upcoming Aussie Millions?
The word is yes, there will be, these online phenoms are clocking up many thousands or hours of play. We are not looking at the old gun who is still outplaying the younger crowd anymore, it is the younger crowd clearly out shaking the older foe. The word poker player now means some young kid grinding online, just like a young kid who plays PS3 all day.
You do not expect to see an old man taking down the latest action game like 'Call of Duty', so nor should you think that some old man is going to win the next big poker tournament.
