Time To Twitter

This year's WSOP definitely has more tournaments and is definitely looking for growth in terms of prize money and also player numbers. But what is definitely growing out of proportions is the number of poker players twittering their progress in the tournaments. The world definitely changed with hole cam technology, allowing the world to finally know how pros played their cards and the strategies they used to win poker games, tournaments were further enhanced when internet sites and online poke sites started to blog about the tournaments, reporting on the status, who is in and who is out.
Now the reporting has gone even faster and easier with twitter. Pokerstars, has all of it's poker pros with twitter accounts and constantly updating their progress so that the whole world can follow it through. All the little things like the new player to have sat down at their table, when they have won a big pot, whether the air conditioning is too cold or the chip progress means that everybody is learning about everything very quickly and without having to be there at all.
Twitter is most likely being updated by the poker players mobile devices and there must be a big audience constantly following the updates. If there could be a measure on the growth of the use of this media, maybe tournament organisers would have something new to record and set about adjusting the tournaments to allow for twitter breaks rather than just toilet breaks.
