Accumulator: Known as a parlay in North America, it is a bet that is comprised of four picks or more with wins from the first bet going to the next. The bet pays out if all selections win.
Action: A valid bet or wager of any kind.
Ajax:AKA a betting tax.
Ante-Post: Known as a futures bet in North America, ante-posts are bets that are placed on an event that takes place in the future.
Any To Come (ATC): Reinvesting winnings from one bet into another.
Arbitrage: Where a person can wager on both sides and win due to a variant in the odds.
Asian Handicaps: A popular bet in Asia (obviously) where the bookmaker gives odds that are favorable to both teams, with the favored team given a goal deficit and the other team a goal head start.
Bet: To wager.
Banker: A bet that a punter considers a sure thing, known as a Lock in North America.
Bar Price: The minimum odds for selections without a quoted price.
Beeswax: See Ajax.
Bookmaker: A person or people that accept monetary wagers on outcomes of events particularly sporting events. Often referred to as a bookie.
Buy-Price: The highest figure offered by a bookie for index (spread) betting.
Carpet: Slang for 3-1 odds.
Co-favorites: When three competitors or more are listed as favorites by a bookmaker.
Correct Score: As the term implies, predicting the exact score of a contest between two teams.
Cover: Beating the index or spread set by a bookmaker when betting on a sporting event.
Double: A bet that involves two selections, where both must be correct in order for the bet to pay.
Double Carpet: Similar to a Carpet, except with 33-1 odds.
Doubling Up: Where a punter tries to make up for a loss by increasing the size of his previous bet by two. AKA Martingale.
Drift: When odds for an event grow, usually due to lack of betting action.
Each-way: Two part wager where a punter bets for a team to win and for a team to place.
Evens: 1:1 odds where the amount of money bet is equal to the amount of money won.
